If you’re looking to recruit the perfect team of staff to grow your business, use effective video content to attract them to your organisation

It’s a tough job market out there these days for employers. The best quality candidates who would really kick your business on likely have their pick of offers, or are currently in employment.

So to tempt them across to your organisation, you really have to sell it to them.

And for me, one of the best ways you can get across how amazing it is to work for you, is to produce a recruitment video with your current members of staff.

After all, the success of sites like glassdoor really prove how much candidates look at the opinions of people who already work for you.

From the candidate’s point of view, obviously as the employer you’re going to say it’s a great environment in the office. But if a member of your team says that, it’s so much more authentic, trustworthy and reassuring.

Taking on a new role is a huge commitment for a candidate, so anything you can do to convince them that it’s the right move for them will help them to make the decision.

I don’t think it’s necessary to produce a recruitment video for each time you want to recruit; I think there’s two situations where it makes the most sense.

Using a recruitment video for a highly specialised role

For some positions, it’s about the quality, not the quantity. You might need just the one really perfect staff member to drive your business forward.

But the perfect person can be very difficult to find!

I worked with TeeJay from Momentum People to produce a recruitment video for a paediatric clinical trainer, who had a background as a nurse.

Here TeeJay talks about why the traditional methods of recruiting didn’t seem to be working – and what a difference a recruitment video made.

”On the back of sharing the video, we actually recruited two new paediatric nurses, so it was really successful. We’ve really built our team.

We’ve actually got another three that have since seen that, that have gone: ‘Oh, I wish I’d seen it earlier. I want to join your team.’ So we’ve actually created a waiting list, which is brilliant. We never got that before.”

Using a brand video to recruit the right personality across multiple roles

The approach of using a brand film (rather than a recruitment video for a very specific role) works fantastically if you’ve got multiple roles to recruit for.

It uses interviews with staff members to sell the culture and values of your business, while showcasing all of the benefits of working for you.

It’s specific about the messaging, whilst being generic about what the role available is, meaning you can use it when hiring for a variety of positions.

We produced a video like this for the Mondrem group.

For them, it was really important to attract members of staff who shared their values, and who would seamlessly slot into their teams.

People who’d watch this video and think ‘yeah I’d love to work there, that’s the right environment for me to flourish in’ are exactly the kind of people Mondrem want to recruit.

With videos like these, you’re ensuring that the people who get in touch already match your culture and values.

Whether you’re looking to hire one perfect team member, or a large volume of staff to drive your business forward, a recruitment video is a fantastic way to attract the highest quality of candidate to your business.
